History & About

The Association of Past Executives and Coordinators (APEC) was established
solely to serve as a supervisory body for the Ashanti Regional Students’
Representative Council (ARSRC). APEC commenced with a membership
consisting of former student leaders who had previously served as executives of
the ARSRC, demonstrating a commitment to nurturing and guiding others
through the same ranks. With slightly over two decades of existence, the
association has experienced remarkable growth in the professional, political,
academic, and leadership depth of its members.
As of December 2023, APEC can proudly highlight key figures among its
members, including a former member of parliament who also served form 2020
– 2024 as a Deputy Minister of Finance; the late Dr Lawyer John Kumah, a
former Director of Political Affairs at the Office of the Vice President of Ghana,
and an NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the Asawase Constituency Hon.
Manaf Ibrahim , the Deputy CEO of the National Health Insurance Scheme
(NHIS); Mad. Louisa Atta-Agyemang, three consecutive Presidents of the
National Union of Ghana Students; Mr. Boakye Yiadom Emmanuel, Mr. Dennis
Appiah Larbi – Ampofo who also doubles as a member of NPP manifesto
committee on Education and Mr. Kyeremeh Oppong Daniel, Lawyer Osborn
Freduah Agyemang; a managing partner at the Osborn’s Legal, Mr. Aboagye
Bediako; the General Manager of Makab Energy and Logistics Limited, Mr.
Patrick Ayittah; the Human resources manager at the Microfinance and Small
Loans Centre (MASLOC), Mr. David Ohene – Amoako; the first black University
of Saskatchewan Graduate Students’ Association President, Pastor Donneh, Mr.
Joseph Alhassan; MD – Docutech Limited, Mr. Benjamin Ohene Mensah – CEO
Ogazy Essentrics, Dr Nana Konadu – a Medical Practitioner at the Korle Bu
Teaching Hospital, Mr. Charles Oduro Kwarteng of Bank of Ghana, just to
mention a few. Additionally, APEC boasts of numerous practicing lawyers,
health professionals, engineers, bankers, lecturers, public figures [Zion
Felix – Popular Ghanaian Blogger, Collins Atta Poku- Popular Ghanaian Sports
Personality, entrepreneurs, politicians, corporate workers, and student leaders.
Throughout the years, APEC-Ashanti members have served as mentors and role
models for hundreds of secondary and tertiary-level students, playing a crucial
role in shaping national and continental leaders. The Association actively
advocates for women’s empowerment, social cohesion, and the promotion of
non-violence in democratic discourses.
In December 2023, APEC historically elected the first-ever Female Chairperson;
